Federico Chiavazza is an expert in international large-scale real estate developments, specializing in real estate development valuation, accounting, project and construction management. He is currently a Professor at SDA Bocconi School of Management, and a member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Mr. Chiavazza has over twenty years of academic and industry experience. He is a professor of Accounting, Control, Corporate and Real Estate Finance at SDA Bocconi School of Management. He is an Equity Partner and Chief Operating Officer and serves on the Board Member of Avalon Real Estate S.p.A., and he is also part of the Investment Committee of 3V, the real estate company of the Stevanato Group, investing in development and redevelopment projects in New York and California.
Federico Chiavazza gained his international industry experience working in large-scale real estate development projects in both USA and Europe. He worked for the investment management team of Forest City Ratner Companies, one of the leading developers in U.S., and he was involved in real estate development projects as Atlantic Yards, the New York Times Building and the Beekman Tower in New York. He currently holds the role of key-advisor of institutional real estate investors as Unipol, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Reale Mutua, Generali, and Swiss Life.
During his career Mr. Chiavazza gained extensive real estate experience, with a specific focus in development deals, advising clients in both acquisition and disposal of assets in excess of €3bn, and providing a wide set of technical and financial real estate-related services ranging from strategic investment advisory to valuation, development management and real estate accounting.
Mr. Chiavazza has also testifying experience gained in several litigation matters related to his areas of expertise.
He holds a master’s degree in real estate from the New York University and received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University.
Representative Professional Projects Completed:
Citylife (Milan) – one of the largest mixed-use development projects in Italy and Europe: appraised the current market value of (a) the income-producing portfolio, (b) the areas currently under development (31.000 sqm) and (c) the areas to be developed (68.000 sqm);
Former Expo 2015 area (Milan): advised Arexpo, the public-private owner of the areas where Expo 2015 was held, to set and define the economic and financial parameters to issue the tender procedure for a 99-years, 250.000 sqm land-lease contract. The tender procedure was then won by the leading Australian developer Lend Lease.
Leading real estate company: appraised a 300-assets, >€2BN portfolio of unlikely-to-pay credits, including large developments projects and income producing properties;
Variante 200 (Torino): together with other leading companies as Hines, was part of the Group that delivered the 1 million sqm urban regeneration master plan which is supposed to redefine the north-eastern portion of the City of Turin;
Leading insurance company: advised the acquisition of a €290M retail mall located in Rome.
