Financial and Economic Damages Expert Witness
Mr. Douglass provides advice in both litigation and business consulting matters requiring specialized financial and economic expertise. He has more than fifteen years of experience in business valuation, analysis of damages in securities litigation, valuation of intellectual property in trademark and patent disputes, loss causation analysis, solvency analysis, regulatory compliance consulting, and general economic and financial analysis.
His work spans business valuation, loss causation, and financial analysis, as well as private equity due diligence, market analysis, and corporate strategy.
He has served as a testifying expert in numerous high-stakes litigations and arbitrations, addressing issues including damages quantification, solvency, intellectual property valuation, and breach of contract. His experience covers a broad set of sectors, including energy, healthcare, financial services, infrastructure, consumer products, and technology. Mr. Douglass has led analyses involving multibillion-dollar assets and transactions, including pipeline networks, oil and gas operations, retail chains, and complex financial structures. He has also conducted solvency assessments in distressed and bankruptcy contexts, and supported class certification and antitrust analyses in large-scale securities and commercial disputes.
In addition to his dispute work, Mr. Douglass has advised on strategic transactions and acquisitions, including due diligence for multi-billion-dollar investments, and has led business strategy engagements focused on market sizing, competitive positioning, and growth initiatives. Earlier in his career, he co-founded and exited a financial services technology venture within a major banking institution, achieving a significant return in a short timeframe.
Mr. Douglass also has experience in investigations and compliance, including financial misconduct reviews and the development of policies and controls in preparation for regulatory examinations.
He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Texas and Florida, and holds the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designations from the American Institute of CPAs. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
