At Aperture Investors, Mr. O’Connor served as President, following his tenure as Chief Operating Officer. In these roles, he oversaw all non-investment functions of the firm, including Trading, Operations, Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Technology, and played a key role in transforming Aperture from a traditional long-only asset manager into an alternative asset management platform.

Previously, at Och-Ziff Capital Management, Mr. O’Connor established and led the Portfolio Finance team, a new business unit designed to optimize the firm’s capital usage and financing strategies across multiple funds. Under his leadership, the team developed and implemented four low-risk portfolio finance trading strategies that collectively generated over $300 million in profit for fund investors. He was also responsible for managing and negotiating with over nine global prime brokerage relationships and for conducting due diligence on new custodial and prime brokerage counterparties.

Earlier in his career, Mr. O’Connor was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in London, where he served as European Head of Securities Lending and Co-Head of Prime Brokerage, managing a team of over 100 professionals and achieving average annual revenue growth of 35%. He also held senior treasury and securities finance roles in Asia at Bankers Trust, where he led the regional Securities Finance business, and at PaineWebber, where he worked as a Trader within the Securities Lending division in New York and Hong Kong.

Mr. O’Connor earned a Bachelor of Science in International Studies from the University of Scranton. He also completed a year of study abroad at Sophia University in Tokyo, focusing on general and international studies.
