Mr. Youngman is an expert in asset management, investment management governance, and senior executive leadership within global financial services organizations. He has over 30 years of experience managing Australian and global equities and leading regulated investment businesses across Australia, the United States, and international markets.
Mr. Youngman served as Chief Executive Officer and Board Director at Ausbil Investment Management, a Sydney-based listed equities specialist with approximately A$20 billion in assets under management and majority ownership by New York Life. He was responsible for strategic business direction, competitive positioning, and oversight of finance, legal and compliance, IT, marketing, and distribution functions.
Prior to this role, Mr. Youngman co-founded Five Oceans Asset Management, where he served as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman. Five Oceans operated as a globally regulated boutique asset management firm, registered with ASIC, the FSA, and the SEC, with offices in Sydney and London and peak assets under management of approximately US$800 million.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Youngman held senior executive roles within Deutsche Bank and Bankers Trust in Australia and the United States. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Asset Management Australia, where he was responsible for an investment management business of approximately A$30 billion in assets under management and a workforce of around 250 employees, spanning traditional and alternative asset classes including private equity, absolute return strategies, and real estate. In New York, he served as Head of the US Mutual Fund Business for Deutsche Asset Management and as Head of BT Funds Management – Americas at Bankers Trust, with responsibility for business strategy, profit and loss, administration, and distribution for large-scale retail and institutional investment platforms managing in excess of US$50 billion in assets across the United States, Canada, and South America.
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the General Sir John Monash Foundation, overseeing Australia’s most prestigious postgraduate scholarship program, and as Non-Executive Director at Milford Asset Management - Australia.
In addition to his executive roles, Mr. Youngman has extensive board experience across listed, private, and not-for-profit organizations. He has served as a Board Trustee of International House New York since 1999 and has been actively involved in endowment oversight, governance, and fundraising activities. Mr. Youngman holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Tasmania, an MBA from Columbia University, and a Master of Science in Coaching Psychology from the University of Sydney.
