A founding member of Citigroup’s Financial Restructuring Group, he advised and represented diverse parties-in-interest in distressed situations, whether debtors, creditors, equity holders, or potential acquirors. He handled matters across many industries, including industrials, transportation, telecommunications, consumer products, financial services, retailing and others.

In addition, he was a senior member of Citi’s Mergers and Acquisitions Group, both in New York and Hong Kong, leading teams across industries and geographies. He developed new advisory services and drove significant new business for the firm. In addition he was a long-time member of Citi’s Fairness Opinion Committee.

Subsequently, he joined Gordian Group where he advised creditor groups and regulators seeking negotiated settlements to financially distressed situations. His expertise also included analysis of solvency and the potential conversion of creditor claims into a controlling interest in a company. He also provided expert testimony, whether written, via deposition and in court. In 2012 he joined MAEVA Group, where he advised companies and unions in refinancing or negotiated settlements of disputes.

Mr. Schiller is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and an inactive member of the California Bar Association. He received his BA in International Relations from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of Michigan. He has served on boards of directors of private companies and presently is an advisory board member of an equity money manager.
