Wenzel Schwabenland

Managing Director

Dipl.-Ing. Wenzel Schwabenland is a naval architect, marine surveyor and forensic engineer with over two decades of experience across multiple sectors of the maritime industry. His career spans technical leadership roles, casualty investigations, expert witness work, and strategic advisory for shipowners and financial institutions.

Mr. Schwabenland has extensive experience in Hull & Machinery, Loss of Hire, and General Average matters worldwide, including catastrophic propulsion failures, crankshaft damage, machinery breakdowns, vessel sinkings, cargo losses, and offshore heavy-lift assets. His work includes root cause investigations, damage and repair assessments, flooding and stability analyses, repair methodology reviews, cost evaluations, and the preparation of clear technical evidence for use in international disputes.

He began his career with Germanischer Lloyd as a Task Force Surveyor, conducting global surveys of vessels, shipyards, newbuildings, and marine components to assess compliance with classification society rules, IACS standards, and flag state statutory regulations. He also contributed to emergency response work and delivered technical training internationally.

He later founded and managed 360Marine Pte Ltd in Singapore, where he served as Principal Surveyor in more than 250 marine insurance and casualty matters. In this role, he conducted casualty investigations, prepared repair specifications, reviewed repair costs and time estimates, supported major insurers and shipowners, and acted as an expert witness in arbitration proceedings in London and Singapore.

Mr. Schwabenland also held senior technical leadership roles in ship asset management and fleet operations. He served as Technical Director at a ship asset management firm linked to Commerzbank, advising on vessel selection, technical budgeting, OPEX planning, and portfolio management. Most recently, he was Technical Director and Deputy Managing Director at Oldendorff Carriers, where he oversaw the technical operations of approximately 120 bulk carriers and led projects involving dry dockings, retrofits, repairs, performance optimization, energy efficiency, and future vessel design.

Mr. Schwabenland holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Naval Architecture from the University of Applied Sciences Kiel. He is a member of the Society of German Marine Experts and the Federation of European Maritime Associations of Surveyors and Consultants.
